Some background on this trip... About a year and a half ago I visited Muscat, Oman and met a local off couchsurfer.org when I posted that I was interested in seeing the sunrise in the desert if anyone was willing to accompany me. That local, Nassir, picked me up at 9am at my hotel and spent 10 hours of his own time showing me the sights of Muscat and then drove us into the countryside for a canyon trek. In November of 2017 he reached out to me on Facebook to see if I was interested in visiting Jordan as he and some friends were planning a trip at the end of March. So here I am - I arranged some time before and some time after for my own explorations (I'll be going to Lebanon and France alone) but for six days I will drive around the country of Jordan with two people I've never met. And Nassir of course.
I think my body finally acclimated to the time difference and I'm transitioning back into nighttime Brianne who doesn't like waking up early. I'm fucking exhausted and why are they up with such speed and purpose like they're on their way to a job? Ugh FML right now..
When I got here I worried that I would disturb everyone I'm rooming with by getting up early. Instead, two or three other ladies were up when it was still dark and banging around without regard...
I got less than 5 hours of sleep and I'm pretty beat. There was no hot water this morning so I didn't shower and instead took a sink bath in my room...
It’s Easter Sunday and most things are closed so I anticipate having a fairly chill day. Still getting up early and enjoying a leisurely breakfast while I write. The common/eating area at this hostel has windows and glass doors all around and there is a patio area...
Early morning streak continues. I shower by 7:30 to avoid having to wait for a shower in the shared bathroom. Downstairs at breakfast two other people are already there...
I set a vibrating alarm for 5:30 and get out of bed at 6 - this getting up at the crack of dawn thing is really cramping my night owl/insomniac style but I remind myself I am 6 hours in the future so I’m still basically falling asleep in the early morning...
The teenage boys made noise all night and were still somehow up at dawn. Did they sleep? I am up at with the sun and take my laptop into the one of the lodge buildings to use the last legs of battery life to keep writing offline...
Wadi fucking Rum - I thought Petra was beautiful but holy shit this is a whole other ballgame. We wait an hour after breakfast for the day long tour that was arranged (in Arabic) yesterday. Finally a young, tall and skinny Bedouin man comes driving up...
I suspect I am the only one who set an alarm; I am up at 5 and spend my time alone showering in peace, enjoying my coffee and writing. At 6:11 it is clear no one is getting up unless I wake them up so I wake Nassir up...

I'm trying to sleep in but those early morning freaks are up and at it again. Three other girls are leaving today and hearing them packing is making me anxious...
